We explore Western Sydney International Airport

On Saturday 19th June 2021, the squadron visited the Western Sydney International Airport Experience Centre. With Western Sydney International Airport being on the doorstep for most of our members, it was a fantastic opportunity for members to learn about the future of aviation within Western Sydney.

While a very windy and cold morning, members were eager to see how the Western Sydney International Airport will look like when it opens in 2026 and how the airport will look once completed in 2062.

After a short presentation by the staff at Western Sydney International Airport, the members explored the Experience Centre learning about the history of the area, as well as the smart features of the airport. The members discussed the all the information which was being presented within their little groups. This was conducted by an interactive displays. Afterwards the members had a look outside at the earthworks currently taking place.

This visit has shown members that their is more to aviation than flying, and many members are looking at future careers at the new airport.

The Western Sydney International Airport Experience Center is open Monday to Thursday and Saturdays, the free is a free public display and we encourage everyone to make a visit. Details can be found here (Link).
