Fun, Friendship and Flying

The Australian Air League Edmondson Park Squadron is a youth organisation for boys and girls from the age of 8 years which encourages an interest in aviation.

The squadron meets each Friday night (during the school term) at St Francis Catholic College Edmondson Park from 7pm to 9:30pm

On a regular squadron night, a balanced program allows for members to participate in many aspects of the organisation

The squadron conducts a number of events within the local community which promotes good citizenship amongst members

The Australian Air League (AAL) is a registered activity provider for the active and creative kids voucher programs, this allows you to use the NSW Government vouchers within the squadron.

Our Activities

Here are some of the activities members undertake within the Squadron

Ceremonial Drill

Members are trained in various types of Ceremonial Drill, for Field Competitions and Parades. Drill assists members to acquire self discipline and promotes team work. It also provides opportunity for leadership training.

Education

The Australian Air League has a varied syllabus of aviation related subjects which provided the members with a grounding which is invaluable to future aviation ambitions, both as a hobby and a career

Physical Activities

The Australian Air League believes that the physical well-being of its members is just as important as academic and leadership training, and to that end Cadets are encouraged to take part in a number of sporting activities such as athletics, swimming and so on.

Community Service

One of the League’s Aims is to promote good citizenship amongst young Australians, so Air League cadets are also involved in their community and perform valuable service there. Cadets take part in a number of activities that include supporting returned servicemen on ANZAC Day carrying banners, Clean Up Australia, Red Shield Appeal and so on.

Aviation Experience

The Australian Air League operates a flying school based at Camden Airport. Members are able to undertake flight training or enjoy joy flights around the local area. The flying school is staffed by qualified volunteers, which benefits the members.

Camping / Hiking

Cadets of the Australian Air League often take part in camps, hikes and outings.
Camps and hikes are held to promote fieldcraft within Members, sometimes these are run in association with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. At recreation camps, the emphasis is on FUN ! Cadets go swimming, play sports. At night they might tell stories around the camp fire or play fun night games.
